2024 Youth Fishing Camp

Dear FFC Family,

With great pleasure, we want to update you on an exciting and new development with our local initiative. This past June we launched our first multi-day Youth Fishing Camp for kids in foster care in the greater Portland area. The camp was a great success!

Incredibly, we received a grant from the Mr. Ballen Foundation, to offer this camp at no cost to families. Our mission was to provide a fun and loving environment while engaging in social and emotional learning exercises through fishing and fun interactive games.

The 26 kids that came out to camp had a great experience learning to fish, playing field games, and spending valuable time with “Grandpa Kevin,” our licensed youth counselor. So much fun was had by all, and no doubt lifelong positive memories were made for these kids who deserve it most.

Along with the Mr. Ballen Foundation, we want to thank our volunteer staff who dedicated three days to the camp, ecoShuttle for providing the transportation, Chris from ODFW, and Rainbow Trout Farm for the perfect venue. Thank you to all of you, FFC Family, for continuing to fuel our mission to provide sustainable solutions to poverty and human trafficking.

Next up: It’s full steam ahead for our farm project in the Dominican Republic, a renovation to a past farm build in Honduras, and continued progress to set the stage for the Warm Springs, Oregon farm build. Stay tuned for upcoming newsletters.

Warmly,
Bucky and the FFC Team
