Creating sustainable solutions to Food Insecurity and Preventing Human Trafficking.
Fish Farm Collaborative builds sustainable aquaponic farms that feed families and strengthen communities around the world.
We focus on food insecurity because it is one of the most consistent drivers of vulnerability. When families lack reliable access to food, the risk of exploitation rises. By addressing food insecurity upstream, we help prevent human trafficking before it starts.
Our work is practical.
Our partnerships are local.
Our impact is built to last.
We build aquaponic farms in communities facing food insecurity. These farms produce fish and vegetables year-round and are owned and operated by trusted local partners once complete. This approach allows Fish Farm Collaborative to remain nimble while communities lead long-term solutions.
We Build.
We Partner.
We Step Back.
There is a well-documented link between food insecurity and human trafficking. When families are stable and fed, they are less vulnerable to exploitation. Our mission is programmatic and measurable. Our vision is aspirational. We go upstream to stop food insecurity and prevent human trafficking, one community at a time.
Fish Farm Collaborative was founded in 2014 as Fly Fishing Collaborative. As the organization grew, our work became clear. Sustainable food systems were the most direct and scalable way to address vulnerability and prevent trafficking upstream. Our name evolved to reflect our focus today. Through our sister platform, Fish Well. Do Good., we continue to mobilize the fly-fishing community to support this mission through storytelling, engagement, and awareness.
We do not operate farms long term. We do not duplicate local leadership. Instead, we partner with established organizations, build infrastructure, and transfer ownership. This model allows communities to thrive independently while Fish Farm Collaborative expands its reach. The result is global impact rooted in local leadership.
This is prevention that lasts.
This is food security with dignity.
This is impact that scales.

Why This Mission Is Personal
Our founder, Bucky Buchstaber, knows what it feels like to be unwanted.
Abandoned as a child, he wrestled with worth, identity, and the pain of being overlooked.
Years later, standing in a river with a fly rod in hand, he caught a vision. What if this simple passion could help protect kids who feel the same way he once did?
That question sparked Fish Farm Collaborative. The story begins here.
Watch Bucky’s story and see how one life became a movement.
