A timely update from the FFC Team

A timely update from the FFC Team

Friends,

I hope you’re all staying healthy and strong in these strange times.

As I write this update, my mind is filled with thoughts of those who are suffering and longing for restoration. Many have faced economic hardships and illness, or experienced great loss in the recent wildfires. The impact from this year hasn’t affected us all equally, but it has touched each one of us in some way.

On a global scale, countless people in developing countries have been devastated by the elimination of food drops and short-term relief programs due to the pandemic. So many communities that rely on foreign aid have been left searching for ways to survive. It’s in these perilous times that the seeds of human trafficking are planted in the minds of the desperate. While we hate to bear witness to this tragic reality, there is also great hope.

Our mission to invest lasting resources in these communities that create health and sustainability continues to move forward. We’re receiving more and more farm requests from orphanages, safe homes, and villages eagerly seeking long term solutions. Travel gates are finally starting to creak open and we are more motivated than ever to provide tools of empowerment through aquaponics farming. There hasn’t been a more important time to do what we do.

Belize is opening!

With COVID testing in place upon arrival, Belize is set to open to foreign travelers on October 1st. This is great news for our friends in Gales Point, Belize who have been anxiously waiting for our multi-phase farm project to begin. This important new build should commence this coming fall/winter as we follow careful health and safety precautions. We plan to launch our first team for phase one in early December.

If you’re not familiar with the project in Belize, you can find more details here.

Nepal, which was scheduled for October, has been delayed until March 2021 with foreign traveler restrictions being extended. We’re continuing to monitor entry requirements through various tourism boards. We’re also taking advantage of our time at home by interviewing and planning with many of our future farm recipients for 2021. Exciting days are ahead.

Armed with your great support, we’re thrilled to continue the mission of creating sustainable solutions to poverty and human trafficking now, next year, and into the future.

Also, Echo Fly Fishing rises to the occasion:

To join our local effort to help those who have tragically lost their homes in the recent wildfires, Echo Fly Fishing has donated two fantastic fly rods. Both of these rods are available for you today on our gear page. 100% of the proceeds from these rods will be given to help families rise up and rebuild.

As a reminder, all profits from items purchased on our gear page from now until October 31st will go towards uninsured families that have lost their homes in the fires.

Mobilizing the fly fishing community to create sustainable solutions to poverty and human trafficking.

Thank you,

The FFC Team
