Sustainable Solutions in the DR: Empowering Marginalized Children
Today, we also want to shine a spotlight on an amazing organization we've teamed up with in the Dominican Republic—TEARS. TEARS has an unwavering dedication to the people in the DR, especially marginalized children, and their tireless efforts to find sustainable solutions to the community's complex problems.
Founded by Rod and Twila Davis in La Vega, Dominican Republic, TEARS provides free education to kids in the slums, runs a water treatment plant, Health and Wellness Center, Aquaponics Fish Farming, business training, and grants, and even a soccer mentorship program.
Recently, we've started consulting with TEARS to improve the efficiency and health of their aquaculture program. This partnership has grown beautifully, leading to exciting developments for the organization and its community. This fall, we're heading to the DR to support their aquaculture team with plumbing updates and renovations while introducing sustainable farming methods to boost their agriculture program and vegetable production. We're also building an aquaponic greenhouse to complement their current fish farm.
TEARS is making a huge impact by feeding and educating over 650 children, many of whom wouldn't have access to education otherwise. The need for protein-rich food like fresh fish and vegetables is immense, and we're thrilled to collaborate with TEARS to provide a sustainable food source for these wonderful kids. We couldn't have done it without your support.
